Summary
This project served as an experiment; to unite the classic postcard style with live action footage to create a short tribute to the skyline of the city where I grew up. The vintage color palette is also heavily drawn from classic elements of the city itself, incorporating the iconic sunsets where I grew up watching the bats fly off at night, the burnt orange of the University of Texas, and the cool blue of the Colorado River.
This project also gave me an opportunity to try out some different expressions to create a responsive packet that can be adapted for many different city locations, and I look forward to test that out with future versions.
Iterations
Outside of the typical horizontal landscape, I also played around with a square format for the project as well.
This design does not feel as effective as the typical horizontal landscape, both due to the awkward scaling of the elements but also due to the fact that postcards have historically been to celebrate various landscapes, and the 1080x1080 format constricts those details. Future experiments will occur.
